"This week has produced a major milestone - unloading the mortgage. Eventually I would have been foreclosed upon, and would have been responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars. That was never an option for me, so late last year when I hired Warren G Curtin Realty Inc to negotiate a short sale, I was being proactive to protect my interests. I didn't know if I was moving, up until the day before the closing. A short sale is not for the meek, and VERY hard to close since no one really knows who holds the mortgage. In my case, it was Fanny Mae. My realtor, after 6000 phone calls found a team who was able to make a decision. I won't go into more detail, but let me just say, these types of deals are nearly impossible and I went with intuition and hired my realtor to represent me with the bank. He was able to navigate through all the bullshit and idiots along the way. This took one solid year. They worked one year for me. My lawyer just sent me an email, and will be negotiating the 2nd loan. That part needs to be resolved, but it's minor compared to the primary mortgage.
